The Northwest Indiana Catholic is the official newspaper of the Catholic Diocese of Gary.  It is an essential component of the evangelizing and educational mission of the Church

In addition to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Church, the Northwest Indiana Catholic promotes a Catholic identity, builds unity and charity within this local diocesan Church, and promotes a bonding of Catholic in this Diocese with the Church Universal by publishing national and international news.

The Northwest Indiana Catholic strives to promote ongoing personal conversion and, at the same time, ecumenism and social renewal according to the Gospel justice imperatives and the social teaching of the Church.

While supported only by subscription and advertising revenues, the Northwest Indiana Catholic is committed to report on and respond to the concerns of all the parishes, schools, and other institutions within the Catholic Diocese of Gary.
